Kellie Stamps | July Release

I'm not sure what the connection with me and Kellie Stamps products but she inspires me to no end every month with her creations!

This month is no exception. She has two digital stamps coming out -  Outdoorsy and Therapy along with her second set of planner stamps and Therapy in clear (which I can't wait to get in the mail)!

This month I felt let lead to embrace my inner quilter this by making some outdoor pillow covers for my front porch.

From their humble beginnings, I'll show you how you can create such a neighbor worthy project!

I have had this $3 Target Dollar Spot bag in the corner of my craft room and it was about time to put it to goo use since the handle ring was shot.

I cut it apart and was left with a great outdoor-type canvas fabric to work with.

Using my Cricut Explore to import the design, I then cut each digital stamp onto sticky vinyl which I adhered to the cloth.

Then, using a quality acrylic, I started dabbing in small amounts to fill in the negative space left by the stencil.  Can I repeat, QUALITY, again.  Those, 2 for $1 craft paints may work, but they need to be heavy bodied and stiff or it will seep under your stencil.  The fabric teacher in my cringed as I am technically using the wrong paint.  But I want to make sure this is accessible to everybody, not just us art teacher snobs.  {If you are curious here is the link to the proper paint you should use.}

Here is round 1 and 2 done.  You'll want to make sure that you don't overlap your stencils onto the existing wet paint.  Patience and drying time is important so you don't smoosh it up!

I cut each finished square 11 inches.  I cut this Kaffe Fassett Fabric into 2 and 1/2 inch strips and added a border using a seam allowance of 1/4 inch to make the front pillow 15 inches (because that is what size pillow I was working with) . 

Cut 2 more 15 inch squares from the same fabric for the backing of the pillows. With right sides of the pillow top and back together, sew along 3 of the edges.  Turn right side out, insert to pillow form and hand stitch the 4th side closed.  

Here is my finished and pressed project!  You didn't think I was going to put those wrinkly things out there, did you?!  I think they turned out pretty cool!
