Sharing my space!

Image
I almost called my lovely bosses and said that this was not going to work. Nope, not a snowballs chance I would do it. I signed up to show you my creative space way before I knew I would be moving from Oregon to Pennsylvania.   Before I knew I would be putting most of my creative gizmos and do-hickies  in boxes for storage. Before I knew I would be moving from having my own substantial creative room in a house to moving my entire family of 6 into a 3 room hotel for 4 months.  What this all boils down to, honestly, is I was a little embarrassed and to show you where I have been creating for the past 2 months. And then I took a plane trip. On the way to Denver from Cleveland, after beverage service I noticed a flight attendant sit down in her little jump seat with a plastic baggie and school pocket folder.   Scissors in hand and rifling through her pocket folder for just the right color paper to add to her work using some glue dots. She was creating somethi...

Gel Medium and Crayon

Image
These two, Gel medium and Crayon are and unlikely combo but I hope you are up to reading what this is all about!  Let's get started with the tutorial! Using the black Fancy Pants paper that came with the kit, I took some Matte Gel and spread it on the paper. While it is still wet, I wrote 'hello' and '2016' in the gel with an dry embossing tool to add some texture and interest. After it was dry I took a neon crayon and rubbed it over the matte gel. Layered the embellishments with height, and highlighted some of the writing with a write pen. Viola!  A textured background! I wonder what it would look like to use different types of paint instead of crayon and the overlay? I'll have to try that one out next. Thanks for joining me for this Art Studio! xoxoxo -Kim

December Daily: Days 11-19

Image
What a delightful project to be doing!  Not only am I really enjoying the curation for Clique Kits, I'm caught up and feel like I'm not taking any shortcuts (yet)! The stories and traditions are still trumping me against "get 'r done" mode Here are pictures of days 11-19! I digitally wrote on the picture before printing a suncatcher makes our hotel room a smidgen more cheery this season. Had a glorious day and took advantage of it on the 13th. No holiday season can avoid Urgent Care for us.  Pink eye this time. This kit came with some exclusive journal cards such as Beary Christmas and December. Did some weaving along the side. Our first snow of the year! Stamp from Kellie Stamps on a double spread! Thanks for stopping by the blog I really appreciate your time! xoxoxox -Kim

3 Creative Ways to Journal (without using a journal card)

Image
I tend not to use a lot of journaling cards in my pocket page layouts because I feel like the story should be told through the pictures and then write just enough to tell what's going.  Of course there are always exception to the rule, but what if you just don't like to journal or your have too many pictures to have space for a journaling card?  Today, I've got 3  ways to incorporate journaling in a creative way if you are anything are like me:)   Tag it:    You can always attach a tag to a picture but why not attach it to a journaling card?!  Don't you think sometimes 'How on earth am I going to fill up this card with what's going on?'?  Easy enough, this January kit came with so many tags, use them in this style then your are assured not to stress about the wide open space Journal on an Embellishment:   Find and open space and use it! This feather had a long line of white space to write my thoughts in.  I think it also add...

CK Blog Share!

Welcome Blog Hoppers!!! We are celebrating December's 'Girl Cave' today and launch of January's kit, Albania! If you've gotten to know me these last few months working on the Clique Kits Design team, I love doing all design styles of layouts. I wanted to show you that within every kit, you don't have to stick to the theme of what the kit is trying to say like, loud, beachy, pastely.  Each kit can take on it's own 'personality' to what ever you want it to be! This layout is heavy and busy on embellishment but quiet in all other ways.   I love the see through tags in this kit as well as the silver sequins. A good B-side always makes me smile!  How can you resist these sunny circles to journal in!? My last project to show you is a Pocket page highlighting some special little boys and their projects!  This kit came with some small colored alphas that I used to journal on with this fun paper. I al...
