BeachTwist

Whenever my mother visits and brings her quilting along, I kinda miss that I don't do some of those traditional patterns anymore. This one is Celtic Twist but I've obviously switched to paper and just a hint of green. Moving to Oregon has changed me to a beach lover and I couldn't be happier in my new home state! Park Days

Have you thought about an everyday event like going to the park can be a study in textures and shapes as well? Bark chips, rope, squares windows, rocks, pathways:  So many things to see for the parents point of view as well.  Yes we are having fun documenting great, fantastic, memory making life stuff, but with some surface design fun for us too.    Using Laurel Lane Designs as a base for the pictures, documenting is so easy and suits this layout, well, perfectly. How to tackle composition issues

Image
There are many times where in the middle of a project I'm stymied.  Utterly befuddled on how to proceed next design wise.  Questions arise in my head like:  Where does the eye need to rest?  What's missing? Is it too much? Other than walking away from it or starting over which are sometimes the ultimate solution, here is my trick. Take a quick snapshot on your phone.   This is a beautifully edited picture of my finished project to show you how it all ended up. Let me now walk though my snapshot. Wonderfully candid, un-Photo-shopped pictures of my work space.   I wanted to incorporate the dots throughout the piece. I added that large black and white print on the right and wasn't quite sure it was the right way to go.   It turned out to be WAY too much. Either the print size or the harsh color was an immediate visceral reaction AFTER taking the picture.  I would have been disappointed if I had left it there. ...

Wonderful News I've been selected to be on Laura Rahel's design team for 2015! Her many lines of journaling cards are swoon worthy and I'm very pleased to be working with such a sweet human being.   The design team is first class and I'm honored to be among them. She has an inspiring Blog and here is her  Etsy Shop  !  Check out all her delicious goodies and I will be happy to show you some of my creations too! XOXO, -Kim

I Am...

Image
...complicated.  We all are, right!?  I have always had body confidence issues among many, many others issues in my life.  So much so I competed in the Mrs. NE Pageant to help prove to myself that I am pretty and beautiful inside and out because I have never believed it.  Friends have said many things to me about the next dreaded birthday now that I am 39:  It's all down hill from here or you will just learn to love yourself more. Well dang it...I'm just going to figure it out on my own!! Felicity Jane  has inspired me to do a little self love scrapbook test with an 'I AM Challenge' and here are the results. Yup that is me and my boobie.  Both of us are hanging out in bed.   As Tyra Banks says, I'm smizing with my eyes. (it's not a come hither look, truly :)) I had this paper that looked like the periodic table of elements but was a 12 x 12 sheet of nothing but self affirmations!!  Oddly one of them was element ...

Same picture - Two ways

Howdy Ya'll! I finished this Project Life layout eons ago.  When I say eons, I mean like, April :) Journal Cards from  Laurel Lane Designs  make a simple and clean look easy! Cards by Laurel Lane Designs While organizing pics for the next project, I found the same pictures and decided to challenge myself with a scrapbooking project of a whole 'nother beast.  I rust dyed the background paper and then sewed it to a piece of gold paper with a free motion lasso stitch. Lots of layers of paper with torn edges created a picture foundation. The Journey Crate Paper collection is one of my current favorites.  You can find pieces of it in my planner, PL, scrapbook etc.   Below is a short process video which is embedded below! Thanks for stopping by! XOXOX -Kim

Little tags with hearts for check offs~~~ To Download them click HERE ! *These are for personal use only.  I have not added any of my info to the bottom of the page because that would just look ridiculous.  Remember where you got them and be cool, peeps!
