"do it myself"

That is what my now 11 year old used to say. Scary how time does fly away!

His birthday was Monday and being the wonderful mother I am, knew exactly what I was going to give him. I just waited until the day before to go and buy it.

As you may know we are a sporting family: basketball, soccer, baseball, football, no basketweaving (yet)

And always on the run with equipment helter skelter.
So I bought Tyler this...
An equipment bag with our logo on it already.  I asked how long it would take to embroider his name on it. 

1 week...

Yeah...that's not gonna work.

Since I spent  #$%%$#$ much money on an embroidery module for my sewing machine 4 years ago (and have used 5 times since) I thought I'd dust it off and give it a try.


Literally, dust it off.  Isn't that disgusting!!


After running to the store to buy the special black thread needed, I centered everything up with the machine embroidery hoop.


After double and triple checking positioning, I pressed the go button.

It was odd positioning the duffel on there but worked great.

"Look... I do it myself"

and saved #$%%$#$ minus the 10 bucks they would have charged me. 

I left it on the counter with a Happy Birthday sign and his favorite muffins when he got home from school. By the time I got back from teaching he had his basketball stuff in it. 
Guess he liked it!

  This is the second spiral sticker book this summer that we’ve received with the Cocoa Daisy Main Planner Kit and I’m not mad about it! While last time I just kept it as is, but this time I wanted to be as streamlined as possible when traveling with my notebook. I sliced a couple pages out so they could travel with me, in style with a paper cover. I thought of two ways you make this because working with sticker release paper isn’t as easy as you’d expect. The easiest way securely travel with these sheets is use one of the cute adhesive pockets in the main planner kit and just put it in for safe keeping. On the other side, with the two remaining sheets, I cut one of the sticky notes in half, folded it in half and sandwiched all together.  Staples were used to secure them since I can't use any adhesive on the release paper (since it won't stick). Wet Felted Spheres

This week I start teaching a weekly class at The Minnetonka Center for the Arts about Wet and Dry Felting and wanted to let you in on a little bit of it too. This step by step tutorial teaches you how to make felted balls that will be a component in a necklace which I will show later on. Start with 1/2 oz. corriedale wool. I get mine at one of two places, The Textile Center shop and The Fibers Studio . You can also pick it up on Etsy . This time I am using this variegated dyed one purchased at The Textile Center . The corriedale at The Fiber Studio is a better quality wool but it only comes in solid colors. Trade off, I suppose. The soap is from Kiss My Face , a pure olive oil soap. Fill a bowl with water and place the soap in it and mush it around. I like to do it this way until the soapy water opaque and slightly yellow then I take the bar of soap out.
