Scoops

I believe there is always a kitchen gadget that every household cherishes. Each house is different, but if you took a poll on the street, 90% of people would have a definitive answer.

For the baker, a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. For the cook, a Le Creuset Dutch Oven. For the bachelor, maybe it's the microwave.

While I love baking, cooking, and all things food, I could come up with a whole lot of answers to the kitchen gadget question.  But right now I have one that is really coming in handy:

the Scoop!

 

I love them so much, I have four different sizes!
They all have oz. measurements but I have names for them biggest to smallest.
  • Ice Muff
  • B-Food
  • CCmuff
  • Lope

A cross between the Ice Cream scoop and exact muffin batter measurer.

I double my chocolate chip cookie recipe, bake half and scoop the other half of the dough on sheet pan  and freeze.  Helpful for last minute playdates.(or a late night craving of cookie dough ..ahem...not me of course)

Cantelope scoops for fruit salad.

Imagine a beautiful fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, fresh pineapple, and cantelope 'cause I don't have a picture. 

And maybe you don't want to imagine perfect scoops of cantelope, my friend B would get sick if she did.
Imagine that!

  This is the second spiral sticker book this summer that we’ve received with the Cocoa Daisy Main Planner Kit and I’m not mad about it! While last time I just kept it as is, but this time I wanted to be as streamlined as possible when traveling with my notebook. I sliced a couple pages out so they could travel with me, in style with a paper cover. I thought of two ways you make this because working with sticker release paper isn’t as easy as you’d expect. The easiest way securely travel with these sheets is use one of the cute adhesive pockets in the main planner kit and just put it in for safe keeping. On the other side, with the two remaining sheets, I cut one of the sticky notes in half, folded it in half and sandwiched all together.  Staples were used to secure them since I can't use any adhesive on the release paper (since it won't stick). Wet Felted Spheres

This week I start teaching a weekly class at The Minnetonka Center for the Arts about Wet and Dry Felting and wanted to let you in on a little bit of it too. This step by step tutorial teaches you how to make felted balls that will be a component in a necklace which I will show later on. Start with 1/2 oz. corriedale wool. I get mine at one of two places, The Textile Center shop and The Fibers Studio . You can also pick it up on Etsy . This time I am using this variegated dyed one purchased at The Textile Center . The corriedale at The Fiber Studio is a better quality wool but it only comes in solid colors. Trade off, I suppose. The soap is from Kiss My Face , a pure olive oil soap. Fill a bowl with water and place the soap in it and mush it around. I like to do it this way until the soapy water opaque and slightly yellow then I take the bar of soap out.
