Love Where You Live - Week 4

Image
Signs and Signals.  Seems easy enough doesn't it - taking pictures of signs that are meaningful to you and where you live.   This is a great wrap up prompt so you can end by documenting your local roads, favorite hangout or just the simple things that make where you live unique, something that every town may not have. For this prompt I knew I could just as easily slip some pictures into the sleeves with a few journaling cards and call it done.  Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that approach, and I have been known to be in get'er done mode too. But... Let's finish strong.  Let's think outside our simple pocket pages or whatever type of album you're working on and make something creative with our sign pictures.  I'll show you what I did and I'll give you some ideas on how to create yours along the way. I felt like each week deserved it's own title page under the LWYL umbrella.  This Week 4 was  brighter than my normal color...

Love Where You Live - Weeks 2 and 3

Image
Welcome back!   I'm glad you have come to see what's been going on in my #lpplovewhereyoulive 6 x 8 project life album. We left off at the end of Week 1 with an inside home tour and a peek at some special places that I dearly love. For week 2 we are prompted to have an exterior home tour.  Since outdoor spaces is one of Southern Oregon's special charms, I was glad to oblige.   As I stated last time , I have an interior title page for each week's prompt.  I saw this upon her new release and thought it would be perfect as a cover card.  Although it would be fun, our house numbers they do not look like that on the exterior of our home:)  Just thought I would present it in a funky way. When thinking about documenting he outside around our home, I thought the time of day was a great sub category, hence you'll notice the morning, noon, night journal cards. Morning's light is always so soft and gentle here.  I appreciate it ...

Funfetti Pep Rally

Welcome, Welcome! I thought I would not only show you a few detail pics of a recent layout but all the work that was done with this kit. I was smitten because I just couldn't stop creating!   Inspiration for this layout came to me with exactly one hour before having to leave for a football game.  I just couldn't wait until after so I got out the sewing machine and went to town.  All my fellow quilters would be aghast at so many imperfect seams but I thought it would add to the texture if it wasn't so perfect!   There were so many nooks and crannies to hide all the fun bits in this kit!  Well, what I had left of them.  I used the ephemera and stickers prolifically throughout this month! My About Me Design Team layout was first of getting to know me.  A pocket page look alike. A fussy cut experiment A special card for a special lady. a scrappy mini documenting the extras from #weekinthelife Inspir...

Try Printing on Velum

Image
When you open that kit and see the specialty paper like a fantastic gold foil and vellum paper in the October Funfetti, you can do just about anything with it and love the results, it's so pretty on it's own. But if your looking for a unusual embellishment to add to your layout, I've got an idea for you.  I ran mine through the printer as a journaling piece in a recent layout and I thought you might like to know how.:) Supplies that I used for this project: Inkjet printer vellum restickable glue stick Here is what I did: Using Word, I typed what I wanted and printed it out. With your velum, use the restickable glue stick to attach a piece of velum larger than the printed area taking care to make sure the edges of the velum are secure against the paper. The restickable glue stick is exactly like what is on the back of sticky notes.  It will totally peal of without residue or harm to the surface. Insert the paper with vellum attached into printer as bef...

Are You a Saver?

Image
I'm like my mother, and like her mother and like her mother.... You get my drift, right?! We are SAVERS! And, of course, all the Clique Kits bits and fab paper are totally worth saving. Every last inch!  Which is why at the end of this and every kit I receive from Clique Kits, I make something special with the last few pieces left.  I hope to show you clever ways on what can be done with your extra leftover bits throughout the year! In this specific post I'll walk you through my process of making a scrappy mini with the Funfetti Kit. I approach any non 12x12 scrapbook layout or pocket page with the same process laid out below.  I will list them here first and them break it down as the post continues: Shape  Theme Binding I first look at what the majority of the pieces  shape  is.  In this case, they are rectangle.  I cut or ripped each larger scrap as a base for the pages.  90% of scrapbooking paper is double sided so i...
