Testing...Testing...1,2,3


HI there!  You've caught me on the first day of the  April Kit reveal AND it's CK's anniversary month!

Today we are going to talk about trying new things. Sometimes I jump right into a project and just do it with out spreading my wings a little bit. But I wanted to show you a few things I've been doing that are new for me!

Here you can see I wanted to use these three pictures in a cluster so I tried which one set the best mood for this layout.




 Of course I ended up using only 3 due to the massive amount of toes present but sided with the yellow stripe from Simple Stories.  He was so cheery, I thought the stripe should be too.  Also, I know the kit comes with these die cuts that spell 'Life' but I loved them too much not to have them go with my precious Eli on here.



I also trimmed the pictures down to a manageable 4 x 4 size.  As I have stated before, I do not print at home but use Walgreens instead and to have me crop and print 4x4's from there is twice the price. So instead,  I use my trusty rotary cutter and see through ruler.  It's found in the quilting section of your craft store and I find that I can get a more precise, clean cut using it instead of a paper trimmer.  


I love using paint as a background just as much as any crafter, but I wasn't so sure it was my thing today.  Playing off the geometric style of the letters, I composed a grid and some dots to use instead.



I finally ended with this layout all clean and fresh.  Hopefully you'll test some new techniques to you that will become favs you'll work into other projects too!

  This is the second spiral sticker book this summer that we’ve received with the Cocoa Daisy Main Planner Kit and I’m not mad about it! While last time I just kept it as is, but this time I wanted to be as streamlined as possible when traveling with my notebook. I sliced a couple pages out so they could travel with me, in style with a paper cover. I thought of two ways you make this because working with sticker release paper isn’t as easy as you’d expect. The easiest way securely travel with these sheets is use one of the cute adhesive pockets in the main planner kit and just put it in for safe keeping. On the other side, with the two remaining sheets, I cut one of the sticky notes in half, folded it in half and sandwiched all together.  Staples were used to secure them since I can't use any adhesive on the release paper (since it won't stick). Wet Felted Spheres

This week I start teaching a weekly class at The Minnetonka Center for the Arts about Wet and Dry Felting and wanted to let you in on a little bit of it too. This step by step tutorial teaches you how to make felted balls that will be a component in a necklace which I will show later on. Start with 1/2 oz. corriedale wool. I get mine at one of two places, The Textile Center shop and The Fibers Studio . You can also pick it up on Etsy . This time I am using this variegated dyed one purchased at The Textile Center . The corriedale at The Fiber Studio is a better quality wool but it only comes in solid colors. Trade off, I suppose. The soap is from Kiss My Face , a pure olive oil soap. Fill a bowl with water and place the soap in it and mush it around. I like to do it this way until the soapy water opaque and slightly yellow then I take the bar of soap out.
