Flops to Fab....

Image
Sometimes I don't realize how many projects I don't show you during the month!  I'm hoping to change that with a post that is later in the month (crossing my fingers that it's a regular occurrence) which shows you what is going on and what I didn't show you on social media!  My mistakes, flops, fabulousness, and wha-wha-whas! First off I have to show you this pic from last weekends planner meetup.  I'm rarely goofy but couldn't help myself getting some time in front of the prop wall.  Seriously, life is short and I need to ham it up a bit more. Hi Leesa!!! Here is my attempt at making a planner sticker for the event!   This is why I buy from people ....They are on a whole 'nother level! Making this one sticker took and hour and it's a hot mess!   About 30 seconds after I posted my #littlesummerjoy cover on IG, I changed it.  I hated it the way it was after I saw the posted pic and honestly, I still really don't like it eve...

Card enclosure

Image
The last thing my girlfriend of 3 kids needs me to buy when her fourth one, a boy,  is due this month, is a cut little outfit.  Gift certificates and cards are my go-to's whenever a it's-not-your-first-rodeo friend has a baby.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with handing her a card in the envelope made to go with it when you by it from the store. But what about jazzing it up with a card wrapper or outer envelope; something to put the congratulatory card in with the gift too.  I found a piece of paper in my stash that was a beach/ocean scene.  Since I wanted to made this look kinda vintage I turned it on it's side an cut it into a letter size piece of paper. At this point I was ready to decorate the paper with the Mother word stamps .   I just repeated them at random and off set them a bit to give visual interest and printed it out onto the paper. I picked out a backing paper that matched and sewed along 3 edges with my ...

Clique Kits June Blog Hop!

Image
So super glad you are cruising on by with Clique Kits Blog Hop for June!  This kit was another home run for the girls to assemble. Such a cohesive kit...AGAIN! So I shared this sneak over on my Instagram  saying it was a quiet little corner!  Well I couldn't help myself with this layout. The corrugated paper started me off on this ripping thing I couldn't shake! And then I kept ripping, little bits of a 6 x 6 paper pad piece from Elle's Studio with typewriter font on it.  I'm a sucker for old school I guess.  Then stitched it down onto the background.    I then watercolored some spots and blew them with a straw in the direction I wanted to go!  Adding those special touches with the wood veneers and cut-a-parts always give the right amount of detail. To add to the nautical picture, I watched a You Tube video on how to tie this knot with the string provided for the corner of the picture.  It's a C...

On Repeat

Image
I've always wanted to do a repetitive picture layout but I wasn't sure how to put it together.  Finally, with this June's Clique Kit I was able to put the pieces together in my head enough to go for it!  I figured out I could use the repetitive picture as the "paper" and mask it somehow to make it a little softer. Then using the exclusive Cut Files, I isolated the circle shape. Repeating it and with different sizes, I made my own cut file design.  The journaling was printed on velum and placed on the bottom with a row of labels covered with the vellum as a base.  Again, more layers of paper underneath the main picture with bits of the same repeat picture peeking through the cut file.  I always seem to go for the stapler! Guess I appreciate the industrial look in a softer layout to balance it. #stapleallthethings :) You can see the repetitive picture background 'paper' through the cut file. Here is t...

Creative Planning: Style Report Summer 2016

Image
I thought it would be fun to walk you my opinion of the top 5 styles of creative planing layouts for summer , through my own work, and talk about where you think you fit in within in or could fit in for one of these categories. I love to plan in a way in a way to help get my juices flowing for other creative endeavors.  By seeing and using my agenda daily, I feel organized, special and inspired for the summer! 1. THE MEMORY PLANNER Why not incorporate pictures of special summer  memories and people into your layouts?!  I think it's a fun way to remind ourselves why we are trying to be organized and focused on our daily journey.  You can always use an instax or poloriod zip the print off smaller size photos but you can also collage them into a 4x6 picture to print out or use those extra Costco photo strips that come with your order as I have done here.   2. THE COLORFUL PLANNER This might look like a hot mess to some, but using a color r...
