Elle's Studio | NSD 2017 Challenge #9

I participated in Elle's Studio National Scrapbook Day Challenge this year! Join in if you'd like to you can still upload your link until midnight PST on Friday, May 12th, 2017:)


The challenge was to create a travelers notebook spread!
I did so using the Little Moments Collection which paired so well with my succulent picture.


I gave the flowers that I cut out from the 12 x 12 sheet a little dimension by gluing them only in the center and turning the edges up.  They really do stay like this even when the TN is shut!



I added a whole bunch of bits from the collection to the corner!  I love it when designers think about the salvage cut ends because I always look to use them in my layouts too!  Nothing is sacred, even packaging!

Wet Felted Spheres

This week I start teaching a weekly class at The Minnetonka Center for the Arts about Wet and Dry Felting and wanted to let you in on a little bit of it too. This step by step tutorial teaches you how to make felted balls that will be a component in a necklace which I will show later on. Start with 1/2 oz. corriedale wool. I get mine at one of two places, The Textile Center shop and The Fibers Studio . You can also pick it up on Etsy . This time I am using this variegated dyed one purchased at The Textile Center . The corriedale at The Fiber Studio is a better quality wool but it only comes in solid colors. Trade off, I suppose. The soap is from Kiss My Face , a pure olive oil soap. Fill a bowl with water and place the soap in it and mush it around. I like to do it this way until the soapy water opaque and slightly yellow then I take the bar of soap out. Stationery kit

The BIGGEST hidden gems within the Stationery Kit is undoubtedly the included vellum and acetate sheets! Using just those 2 sheets I made 5 different projects and I've included 3 just right here! This framed pocket could be my favorite one with it's rounded corners and clear front made from the plastic sleeve the Stationery Kit came in.  I embellished a tag included in the Creative Kit contents where this pocket is also the perfect place to put it's other companion tags within their kraft paper envelope. This scrap piece of vellum is inspired by an envelope flap.  Adhered to the page on its long side it created the intentional landing space for the Flourish Stickers and journal card from the Creative Kit.  Adding a large tag doesn't add to it's functionality, but it sure labels what 'things & stuff' I have tucked away underneath.
