Every now and then I notice a recurring theme (other than sports) on my camera roll. This time I found out that we actually have fun in the everyday routines. Why not make those mundane and tiresome unending chores fun?! I found these free to do lists on journal cards from Little Lamm and Co.  and thought they would be perfect to incorporate into my layout! Using some textured stamps I created a background with pink and blue ink. The circles were done with a Martha Stewart cutter in various sizes, largest being 5 inches. Ephemora was from the stash. We took a quick day trip to the coast the 2nd weekend after we moved to the PNW.  I decided to paint my own background for a layout and create a process video which is embedded below! After picking my pics I painted this orb using the most basic of acrylic paints...You know the ones that are 5/$1.    With a little too much blue I needed a contrasting color....why not this lovely shade of lime. To create the lines super cute kawaii flag on my scrap water color paper, I used Mommy Lhey stamps from this stamp set . Again used stamps from this set to make some decorative circles. Yes I'm at it again!  I have had such a privilege to work with so many many different people over the course of my time teaching and NOW I want to document it by other ways other than a blog roll! Studio Calico makes some seriously sweet stuff .  Unfortunately, I'm on a temporary spending freeze (aka NO SPEND MULA) which = no bueno.  Which this challenge is within a challenge itself.  Have to rely on my (massive) supply of stuff. I stumbled upon their  Blog  and viola, a National Scrapbook Day challenge. Choosing to combine 3 of their 10 challenges into one project.  Efficient, I'd say!! I've been admiring the seriously adorable supplies at Cocoa Daisy  lately.  Just for art journal aspect  alone I could go mega craz! Check 'em out!    Fast forward to one of their blog posts about a sketch challenge. For those who are not familiar, You use this as a guide to put together your challenge, in your own directional way. I chose an 8 x 8 piece of yellow/green card stock and my supplies. I always, yes always, include some of my own work into my work.  I think it adds a little of Imperfection-ism to so much structure.  This top paper by simply using the paint that was left on my palate on a piece of scrap and added some gold for fun, of course. I ripped this paper to show off its inside goodness and layered, and layered, and layered. Since we were in the Redwood forest I thought the wood-grained PL card was apropos.   More layers and vellum background this time. XOXO - Friends!!

I love having a mix of homemade papers as well as store bought ones.  It creates a great contrast in ethereal and rigid design.  But in this case I couldn't help but just use this paper solely in my #listersgottalist April Challenge - day 17 (for more info on that visit @theresetgirl  on IG- awesome challenge - awesome inspiration)  Here is a close up of the finished paint before dry decoration. Starting with some mixed Media Paper , I squirted Transparent  Setacolor paint from  squeege bottles .  But you can use paintbrush etc as long as it's diluted per the instructions Yes, totally random squirt.  Just make sure you are dealing with only warm or only cool colors for a cohesive look. For several years I've struggled on what to give to the teachers of Oede 12 and 10.  For several years I donated money in their name to the school districts foundation because who really needs another "coffee mug"...right?!? This year I actually had inspiration. As soon as I saw this on Martha I knew exactly what my plan was. Instead of making peach mini pies, I chose apples because, duh, teachers and apples.... I wrapped them in cellophane and placed them in these cute cupcake boxes from Oriental Trading . And added  ribbon  and finished them off with Martha's stickers.   I told Oede 10 he had to say "You're the apple pie of my eye!" when he gave them. For Oede 12, I had to have hubby threaten him just to bring them to school. Pre-teens...

There are points in time I wish I could capture with pictures.  They fade before I realize their passing and life has changed in a second.  I've decided to dedicate every Friday post to one, still, quiet moment from where I sit.
